Holding down the high score on Tempest at Ground Kontrol in Portland.
I’m vaguely ashamed by my rather weak 109,526 high score. Back In The Day my average score would be around 200-220K after twenty minutes or so. Still, I’ll take what I can get. Ground Kontrol’s machine is in terrific shape (along with their Robotron machine which gave me a quite a workover)
Nice! You know this means you need to get a full size console to practice on at all times.
Remember Francis’ place and that one summer when there were four arcade games available?
maybe you’ll be in the sequel to The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters.

I am so going there the next time I’m in Stumptown. Robotron and I got a date.
Of course I remember Francis’ arcade collection: Tron, Dig Dug (both of which Ground Kontrol have) but I can’t remember the other two.
And yeah, The King Of Kong is one of better movies to come out this year.
DRAGON BONUS!
Bosconian and one other. Galaga maybe?
It was one of those Galaga type ripoffs. He did rotate a Xevious ripoff in there for a while. Ahh, before the days of playstation and nintendo, coming home from work late at night and staying up till the wee hours playing video games on a real machine.
I’m half heartedly trying to convince D that a pinball machine would look good in the living room. The new place certainly is big enough. But she’s not going for it. Although I suppose I could cram one in my office. It’d be next to the treadmill but it’d fit.
Congrats!!
MCMLXXX–1980. Strange but until reading this post I had totally forgotten about Tempest. Over the past few years, whenever old video games come up in coversation I’ve made mention of Battlezone, Space Invaders and PacMan. I was never very good at any of them but I liked Battlezone and Tempest a lot. Wir sind echte Fossilen, nicht wahr?

Ground Kontrol was one of the few places I’ve been where I was the oldest person present.
