I’ve always been fascinated with GUI screenshots and themes. Maybe I’m hoping to find a better screen layout or something. Anyway, here’s my current desktop.

Isn’t that the TWA terminal at JFK Airport? I remember going through that in the early 1970s, when my parents and I moved to England. It was so sleek and modern then. . .a veritable symbol of the Jet Age, when glamorous folk glided through such modern terminals without benefit of airport security and boarded aircraft via outside stairways to “jet off” to the rest of the world, which was conveniently much cheaper for Americans, and more subservient to us, than one could possibly imagine today. I can still recall BOAC, with its 747s, resplendent with lounges, real silverware and an outstanding assortment of free toys, games and puzzled for children. A far cry from today’s bankruptcy-ridden, airless sardine cans serving inedible quasi-organic products without letting you up for the dubious privilege of using the filthy restrooms.
Yup, it’s the old TWA Terminal Five at JFK.
Eero Saarinen – beautiful!
I stumbled into your blog today and I must say that is one awesome shot. Even though it’s the old TWA Terminal it looks like something out of the Jetson’s.
Chris, where gan I get a copy of that awesome photo of the TWA terminal?
Dave, I’ll email you a copy of it.
