Austin Psych Fest 2014 – What we saw

The Warlocks at the Thursday kickoff party.

La Femme. Had vaguely heard of them before, but didn’t know just how great they are live. I loved that they stayed in character throughout the weekend.

The Zombies

Barn Owl. Puny human phones can’t capture just how huge their sound was

Zombie Zombie. Total highlight of the fest.

Bardo Pond

Moon Duo

Mono. They don’t play the US frequently, but worth all effort to see.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre

Kikagaku Moyo. We were just looking to sit down by the river and take a break. I had no clue who they were, but mid-way through their set you could just feel it: these guys are, well, kicking ass. Standing ovation at the end completely spontaneous and well-deserved. So intense, they play the sitar standing up.

Lorelle Meets The Obsolete

Joel Gion & The Primary Colours

Loop. Pretty much the reason for going to Psych Fest this year.
