After a while, I borrowed an electric from a friend - I couldn't believe how much easier it was to play. Anyway, it doesn't take long to learn a few simple chords which allow you to play some songs - that's the beauty of the guitar. Once you can play a few songs, you enjoy playing it and you just keep learning. I worked with a guy who started when he was about 45 - something he'd always fancied but never got round to. Within a couple of months, he seemed to be doing OK. I had a break for about 10 years and started again a year ago. Don't ask me why I stopped playing - I am so enthusiastic about it again that I don't understand why I ever stopped. I guess it was partly due to the break-up of the band I was in when we all started moving away. I think I play better now than I ever did, though. Anyway, you should definitely try it if you're interested. There's a lot of Church songs with fairly easy chords and you'll get a buzz if you can play along to them. One tip though - use an electronic tuner. They're pretty cheap and it sounds so much better when the guitar is properly tuned. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tara" To: Sent: Wednesday, February 27, 2002 9:36 PM Subject: For the guitarists on the list... > Hey guys, > > I was just wondering what inspired you all to learn how to play the guitar, > how long you've been playing, and if someone taught you or you picked it up > on your own.
