Is it better to start on an acoustic guitar or on an > electric? This is my second post I think, even if i've been on the list since last summer... but I play guitar so... I started playing electric guitar at 16, before that I studied piano for about 5 years. No handbooks at all, I just picked up tunes I liked and tried to play them. At that age, back in 1990, I was an heavy metal fanatic so my first attempts were in that direction: Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer and so on. But in 1992 I discovered Priest=Aura and it changed my musical taste completely... The best thing when you want to start playing an instrument is, imho, trying to be personal and let your instinct be your guide. It has always been like that for me. I've had many bands and played everything from soft rock to thrash metal and noise/industrial... In December 2000 I played at The Borderline in London (I was in a metal band called GF93), the same club where SK played, it was a big surprise and an honour for me when I discovered that!
