Hurrah! :-) Thank you Doug, for saying pretty much all that I wanted to say! If the band had continued to sound like they did on "Heyday" for the last 17 years, then I can't help feeling that not only would we be pretty bored, but that "Heyday" (one of my favourite Church albums, it has to be said) wouldn't seem so special itself. Do we really want The Church to be an AC/DC or Status Quo, endlessly rehashing their own material into ever more formulaic sounding records? Give me the likes of the last three albums of original material anyday over a bunch of half-baked "Heyday" clones! :-) > And one last thing - maybe Derek can help? - are AAE writing/ > recording new stuff at all? I think Derek's answered this as fully as anyone can at the moment : don't despair! Julianne has asked us to be patient, and bearing in mind that these things can't be forced, the last thing we want to do is badger them so badly that they give up on the idea of new All About Eve material : which would be a serious treat to say the least! No-one is more excited at the prospect of new Eves material than I am, and it's hard to wait, especially when we're seeing the band out there again and playing better than ever (for my money), but patience, as they say, is a virtue... :-) > Ah.... the 3rd last thing. Indeed... :-) This is a common reaction when witnessing Marty cutting loose in a live setting : some Eves virgins of my acquaintance were totally dazzled by Marty's performances and it's still cause for comment some months later. Technically he's said many times that he's not all that proficient in some ways - he's no scales and meters man - but he's got an uncanny knack of 'winging it' that is unparallelled by any other guitarist I've ever seen play live - his approach seems similar to that of Jimmy Page in that respect. All I know is that it's hypnotic and magical to watch! :-) It's good to have more regular opportunities to see it happening!
