From: Anthony Pooley, a_pooley@baal.freeserve.co.uk Subject: Grip Weeds & Camden Date: 2/25/2002 2:31:47 AM To: Seance List, seance@lists.no-fi.com Over in London for the Saturday Camden show (which was IMHO really fantastic - up in the top 3 of the 14 times I've seen them) and trawling through the good CD shops in Soho. Walked into one and heard an album by a band called the Grip Weeds - never heard of them before and immediately snapped up the CD "Summer of a Thousand Years" - it's just soooooo lovely. Loads of 12-strings and paisley - anybody else know anything about this band? One nice thing is that they record their own albums at their own small studio and own *all* their own recordings - no big record companies involved. I just checked out their web site and it appears they're playing the UK and Spain in April......so, another air ticket to buy..... Back to Saturday - didn't see a huge number of Seancers (I arraived a bit late for the get-together) but I met Daryl (spelling) and Ian and saw Anne Ward and her brother Nick. I'm off to Berne on Thursday as it's only 2 hours from me - let's hope it's as good as Saturday. Cheers Anthony Pooley
