On this fine Sunday afternoon I was searching for the Never Swallow Stars track "Soldier" reputed to have been on a Peer Music sampler. (I'll ask again, does anybody even have this song? Heard it even?). So I was checking out Peer's homepage (http://www.peermusic.com) and what do I spot? http://www.peermusic.com/news/newsitem.cfm?announcement_id=213 peermusic Australia is pleased to announce the re-signing of the Church guitarist Peter Koppes: "The Australian office is pleased to announce that they have re-signed "The Church" guitarist Peter Koppes to a world deal, for the new Church album "After Everything, Now This". Peter has been with peermusic for many years including the very successful Starfish album. This is the best Church album in a few years. Check out "The Church" site at www.thechurchband.com for more information, reviews etc." Now, this is confusing, no? The announcement suggests that they've signed Peter. But it sounds like they're actually talking about the Church. The Australian release of AENT and Numbers is on some Cooking Vinyl related label called CMEB, right? My Numbers cd says Marketed in AU & NZ by CME Beaver Pty Ltd under exclusive license from Cooking Vinyl and Manufactured and distributed by Universal Music Australia. So is the "signing" for publishing rights? My cdingle says that the publishing rights are held by Mushroom Music Publishing/Universal Music Publishing. So is this announcement really for Peter's next album? I'm confused. Prescott
