From: Simon P Close, spc@blurred-crusade.demon.co.uk Subject: Re: CAMDEN GIG No 2 Date: 2/24/2002 9:48:56 AM To: dhowe8@cwctv.net Just in case anyone gets too excited, Marty sang 'Chromium' and Peter sang 'A New Season' as expected but for both shows Marty was on the left and Pete on the right, looking from the audience. Always been the other way round before. I *think* the setlist was the same both nights, I've got a feeling Saturday may have been slightly shorter but can't think of anything they missed out. Yeblik joined them on Sax for 'Constant in Opal' on Saturday night only. Two encores both nights 1)MATS 2) HW & CIO Saturday was much better soundwise and both shows were being videoed 'officially'; 1 camera at the mixing desk, one in the balcony above the Marty. One rumour heard was that Steve has tinnitus hence the semi-acoustic nature of this tour. Peter played acoustic throughout, Marty electric on a few numbers. I've got to say I preferred the full-blown acoustic or full-blown electric shows of 1998 and felt that some of the new songs did not really suit the acoustic guitar treatment. Night Friends was probably the best of the new songs and the new 'Electric Lash' (think Stones circa Exile on Main Street!) the highlight of the show. Excellently stocked merchandise stall with everything currently available and two new T-shirt designs. Peter was the most chatty! At one point the rest of the band were waiting patiently whilst Peter was absorbed in a conversation with someone in the audience. The funniest moment was when Steve said 'more guitar please' and Peter wandered across the stage and presented him with his guitar!
