At least not an independent like Amoeba anyway. GAWD ... a Home Depot size record store ... oh man ... take me there ... lock me in and throw away the KEY!!! I could live in that joint! Best place in NYC is Kim's on St Mark's ... for me anyway ... Midnight has the stuff too though ... rockin' stuff, basic stuff, man stuff, garagey stuff, meat and potatoes stuff ... Groovies and Barracudas and Prisoners and MC5 and Cynics and all those old stawarts ... but I like Kim's anymore, if only to just browse about, they have everthing ... for the sea going sort that can brave a jaunt across (actually under) the river Hudson there's Choons(Tunes) in Hoboken ... other than that it's basically the HMVs and Towers, there're a couple others but they don't much matter anymore ...and don't even get my ass started about how UTTERLY barren it is out here in the sticks ... wot a difference fifty miles makes ...and YES we've got colleges out here ... hell, there're actual little bucolic collegey enclaves out here on the island but there is ABSOLUTELY no scene AT ALL, no interest in anything even remotely happenin' or no decent radio (not even college radio!) presence whatsoever! Internet music mongers are a bloody GODSEND to this boy these days ... I guess really that's where 90% of my procurement transpires anymore. I'd give an appendage to be able to just take a quick spin and walk into a cool record store on a lark anymore ... revel in it ... those of y'all that are yet able! Screw Disneyland .... when or if I ever make it to LA ... I'm heading straight for Amoeba Depot!
