From: lisa or david, lidaskil@sacoriver.net Subject: review this guy really p****s me off Date: 2/10/2002 5:45:37 PM To: seance@lists.no-fi.com I'm not ashamed to say that, in junior high, I was one of those "freaks" that the jocks would pick on because I hated to play sports, I "dressed funny," and my idea of a fun Saturday night was sitting at home alone with my extensive collection of Cure bootlegs. As I got older though, I eventually put away my Cure albums, tore the Smiths posters off my wall and jumped headfirst into my existence. Don't get me wrong, some of those bands helped shape the person that I am today and, once in a great while - usually when I'm feeling nostalgic - I'll revisit some of them. I'll think about everything that has happened to me in the past 27 years and I realize that I wouldn't change a thing. But the one down side to getting old, is watching your music heroes get old with you. I can't tell you how disappointing it was, three years ago, to see Morrisey drooling on stage at the Hammerstien Ballroom. Someone should have put that fat cow out to pasture years ago. Where am I going with this? Oh yeah... The Church, "After Everything Now This." What an appropriate album title! Remember that song, "Under the Milky Way?" At the risk of sounding cliche, "Under the Milky Way," by The Church, would definitely appear on my "Top 25 All Time Greatest 80s Singles" list. That was a long time ago, however, and, I gotta tell ya, I can't believe that these guys have been pumping out a steady stream of records since 1981. For God's sake... go away already! I'm confident when I say that this album will be a waste of your time. If you disagree, you're still holding on to the past. If this is the case, I beg you, seek professional help. - Damon Peter Rallis LISTEN: NOTHING AVAILABLE RATING: 5 discs: MASTERPIECE 4 discs: 5+ GREAT SONGS - DEFINITE BUY 3 discs: 1-4 GOOD SONGS 2 discs: D is for Download 1 disc: This was torture
