From: Salonen@aol.com Subject: Speaking of cleaning out the ears...(a little Church) Date: 2/10/2002 10:38:22 AM To: seance@lists.no-fi.com All this talk about what Steve is saying on Numbers made me think of two instances where I have realised maybe I *do* need my ears cleaned out. ; ) It's really easy to get Steve's lyrics messed up. I think there's still a page on Shadow Cabinet where there are misheard lyrics - they're quite funny. However, now I'm just hearing people say completely different things that what they're really saying. Example # 1: Last night, I was talking to Cathy/Beebster - she was at a hotel with a phone with a shitty connection and I was on a cell phone so that could have been it. Anyway, she said she met a woman at a concert who said she walked with a cane. I thought Cathy said "I met a woman who worked with a king." And for the longest time I kept trying to figure out what king she could have worked for. Example # 2: I asked my students the other day who built the Ishtar Gate. A student correctly said "The Neo-Babylonians." I thought he said "Neil Diamond." Hell, it really makes us laugh and I did have my hearing checked last year. They said everything was fine, but I'm starting to doubt it. Denise : o
