Maybe that is why that particular song stuck out to me on first listen (I love the Whigs). I find myself thinking of Mahky's video idea but also after spending quite a few years in the American South (and Paige, can you relate?) I find myself thinking of antebellum mansions in ruin after the Civil War and the Southern gentility still wandering around in tattered fancy dress. Or perhaps Miss Havisham in her tattered wedding dress in Great Expectations. Probably just the "jewels on your fingers, tears in your dresses, fabulous mansions" bit. Maybe it's just my romantic nature. As for Echo and the Bunnymen - I second Mahky's Heaven Up Here and raise you Porcupine and Ocean Rain (especially Ocean Rain for a Church fan) The last 2 releases aren't half bad either!
