Best Buy used to carry the standards like Starfish and P=A but now they don't even have a space for the band. It was only 2 years ago that I found MATS+ there for god sakes... Their in-store computer doesn't even have AENT listed. I went to 5 different record stores and the closest I came to AENT was a "maybe by Monday" at a used CD chain store (CD Warehouse). Now I know why I've been buying all my music overseas. The thing that struck me the most was the fact that even the rock section was generally tiny and hard to find, not to mention stuffed with fake-rock. Suckety-suck-suck-suck.... time to whip out my little plastic friend and wait by the mailbox I guess.... 904 miles from the nearest Church 2002 tour date, but not bitter, JHT -----Original Message----- From: seance@lists.no-fi.com [mailto:seance@lists.no-fi.com] On Behalf Of Daniel Watkins Sent: Saturday, February 09, 2002 3:41 AM To: seance@lists.no-fi.com Subject: Re: AENT/Simple Minds/Aha Thanks to everyone for info on the gee-tar issues. As far as AENT, I finally bought an 'official' copy tonight so the band could get it's money (I only had a promo til now). It cost me $20!!! I went to seven different stores in Dallas before finding someone that was carrying it. I wonder how a band is supposed to get record sales when there are no stores carrying the cd; even when someone wants a copy badly you can barely find it in a store - how is the casually interested listener supposed to get it if they never even see a copy?!? That album is just great... My only complaint is just that it's too short. I'd like to hear Pete and Tim's contributions to the album, kind of like the MATS Plus version. I also got A-ha's Minor Earth Major Sky today, so thanks to everyone fo the recommendations on that. FYI, Simple Minds has a new album coming out in the next month or so - in case you haven't heard their recent stuff, here's the run down: 1998 (?) saw Neopolis released which was kind of blah IMO. 1999, there was an album recorded called 'Our Secrets Are the Same' which was great! Unfortunately, due to it's being leaked onto the internet in mp3 form, it was never released!!! Recently there was the cover cd to 'raise their profile' a little. Now there is a new album called 'CRY' that is supposed to even blow away the unreleased 'OSATS' album. A return to their old style supposedly... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE Valentine eCards with Yahoo! Greetings! http://greetings.yahoo.com
