From: Sue C, kascam@bigpond.com Subject: KH Previews & Rarities cd Date: 2/7/2002 3:33:04 AM To: seance@lists.no-fi.com Just briefly...well, as brief as you can get with 20 songs! Trilemma - a great laid back SK song, Im loving this more I listen to it. Beautiful beautiful guitars! Bad For You - Jack Frost - lovely jingly jangly pop with Grant singing - they said it was too 'jolly' for the Snow Job album and a rough mix! We All Fall -Us (Margot Smith & John Kilbey) - wasnt that keen at first, but really loving it now. Margot sounds great. We Need A New Leader - JK - easy to learn the lyrics to this one :)) Citizens - Snog - this is really different to the 'Human Germ' song - has a western cowboy feel to it. Like it! Transmigration - Isadore - this is the one of my favorite songs of the past year or so, beautiful - gotta hand it to Jeffrey Cain from Remy Zero for sharing it with Steve - they all do it justice. Ghost Train - so good to hear RK and JK together...where was SK? :) This song about a tragedy at Luna Park belies the bleak topic as it's light and melodic. Save Me - Curious Yellow - not a fan of this song, I usually skip it. Bossa - SK - something about this song I just love...the atmosphere maybe...cant help bopping along :) - Tara! THIS is one of Steve's recurring nightmares! Dion - not a huge Bhagavad fan but this song is nice - sweet guitar from Jeremy Butterworth. The Winged Measurer - Soma - dark and eerie piano, lots of interesting sounds in this if you like that sort of thing. Time Gentleman Time - they left this off Warp Factor 9's album '5 Days In A Photon Belt' - I would have too. God Is Big Business - Sex Industrie - Sandy Chick vocals - this reminds me of Moby meets Annie Lennox. Aquanaut - SK - they nearly put me off this song with the Kevin Costner reference!! but its a really nice song - makes you think of a seachange! - nice acoustic guitars too and Steve's gentle singing. Travelling Karma - JK - another good song with a happy feel to it- a true story too! Can you unravel the saga?! Only 4 chords but includes a washboard player! No Contact - Us (Margot Smith/JK) - not one of her strongest songs, but Margot sang this off the top of her head just minutes after the hearing the chord progression - that's impressive when you listen to the lyrics. Persuasion - Jack Frost - Sandy Chick adds lovely vocals to this "Snow Job" leftover. Back of My Mind - FAKE - nowhere near as good as the song Nympho! Started off okay but got boring. I haven't heard the other versions which are apparently different?? Tricka Tricka Boom Boom Song - The Twillies - cute and fun - move over 'Tin Lids'!! :) Jacks Dream - Jack Frost - this short piece has a real 'dreamtime' feel to it. Grant speaking over Steve's eerie 'soundscape' in a tale about a sailor drowning. Sue
