From: Daniel Watkins, centuryhouse@yahoo.com Subject: AENT production/Blurred Crusade Date: 2/6/2002 10:21:32 AM To: seance@lists.no-fi.com I agree with Mark on this one. I think the production is great (I also thought this about HOB). It is lush and full and this is the kind of mix you will be able to listen to for a long time, managing to discover new things about it further down the road. Lot's of nuance... As opposed to the production on Blurred Crusade. BC's production isn't horrible, but it is muddy and somewhat dated. And those poorly recorded drums! I've recorded home demos on a $29 mic that sound better than the mix and recording of BC's drums -anyone ever notice that there is distortion and a rattling sound on the tom hits (give Almost With You a listen); it sounds like they were recorded too hot. I'm not slamming the BC album, I love it. But AENT was definitely (sorry, IMO) a better mix and production that BC. And AENT has much more instrumentation and in the mix than BC, which lways makes for a more difficult and less focused mix. Daniel >>Marc Coleman wrote: I must defend Powles here.
