From: Oardodo@aol.com Subject: sellout(NC) Date: 2/4/2002 3:18:48 AM To: seance@lists.no-fi.com Well I guess its inevitable, BUT............. Maybe you folks tuned into parts of the ridiculously long broadcast of the stuporbowl might have noticed the Cadillac commercial with the use of Led Zeppelin's "Rock n Roll"! This is the FIRST time the surviving members of LZ have sold their music for use in a commercial! And I'm disappointed, but realistic about it happening one day. As a major Zep fan, I always was somewhat proud of their stance to disband after John Bonham's death( what a stupid way to go!) and to not allow their music to be used by Madison Avenue. Their few "reunions" (usually fiascos except for the Page-Plant collaborations) never used the Zep name, even though they were offered shitloads of money to do a nostalgic tour (ironically, Page and Plant did so kindof with their tours as far as song selections). This money decision makes sense in the wake of their agreement to let their friend Cameron Crowe use a few tracks in the highly successful movie "Almost Famous" a few years ago. CAN ANYBODY ON THE LIST NAME A BIG ARTIST WHO HASN'T NOW JOINED THE CORPORATE COMMERCIAL WANDWAGON? d.o.(oardodo)
