I wanted to thank everybody for all of the great
recommendations that have been made on Seance.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is one...I checked out one
of their songs on a comp sampler and loved it! Gotta
hear more... LPD is another.
The new REM album is pretty good also and was
recommended here. Air was another good band rec.
I've been giving REFO: another listen; I liked it at
first and now I REALLY like it (esp Don't Move and
Tim's song are cool).
Then there's the BOC stuff - not to start another
thread ;)

I spent tonight making a comp tape and after reviewing
lots of stuff, my recommends are:

**Joseph Arthur ---- check out his CD it is gritty,
very dark and a little on the psychotic side- amazing
stuff!
**Silencers ---- their 1997 'Seconds of Pleasure' is a
great album; well written songs - catchy (Beatles
influenced pop by-way-of Scotland), emotionally
involving and beautiful. You will probably only find
this online but worth the effort spent finding it.
**Lloyd Cole and the Negatives ---- if you liked the
old LC and the Commotions I think this is comparable.
**Echo & the Bunnymen's newest ---- my first listen or
two I was thinking 'Oh, it's OK'; after more listening
I am really getting into this one. Very much a mix of
their early stuff with 'Evergreen' era. 'Its
Allright', 'An Eternity Turns' and 'Everybody Knows'
in particular are great. Will's guitar is much more
prominent that the last album, and his effects are
amazing. Worth getting.
**Daniel Lanois ---- well known as a producer for U2,
peter Gabriel, Robbie Robertson, Bob Dylan etc, etc.
But not very well known for his own work which is just
as good. His first CD 'Acadie' is great- one of my
alltime favorites. His Canadian/French background
shows, as does his trademark production sound. You
will probably recognise his voice and guitar sound
from what you've heard of U2 (he has sung backing
vocal and played guitar on U2 albums). The album runs
from bright and hopeful to dark and eerie. Spiritual
or grounded in the everyday. Diverse and worth getting
if you can find it. His 2nd album is similarly highly
recommended; a little more gritty and urban...

Thanks again to everybody....
